Dr. Mariann Szabó, senior lecturer of the Department, participated in the 16th International Conference on Economics and Business CHALLENGES IN THE CARPATHIAN BASIN: Towards a new sustainability conference organized at the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania. The main objective of the conference was to present and evaluate the steps towards sustainable development on urban and regional scale. In her presentation held in Section 2 of Territorial Differences and Challenges, based on the results of a questionnaire survey conducted in connection with the development of the Historical Public Slaughterhouse (Közvágóhíd) in Budapest, she drew attention to the importance of integrated, district-scale planning and real estate development. It must also be a priority in the redevelopment of brownfield sites with private capital to ensure that the trade-off between profit maximization by investors and social utility is enforced from an urban development perspective. The study about the topic, which has been written with her doctoral student Fruzsina Bozsoki will be published soon.
